Relay: School device management and modernization

Client projectBYTE FORGE provided services for Mobile Guardian. Relay is the editorial case name. This case describes our contribution to a wider product.

Schools need to manage devices across iOS, Android, macOS and ChromeOS, with interfaces for administrators and teachers. Device visibility and classroom controls need to remain usable as the product evolves.

The product challenge

Schools need to manage devices across iOS, Android, macOS and ChromeOS, with interfaces for administrators and teachers. Device visibility and classroom controls need to remain usable as the product evolves.

What we built

We led the upgrade from AngularJS to Angular and developed web and mobile interfaces. We implemented real-time collaboration and device-management features with WebSockets, and built a Chrome extension connected to the platform. Our contribution included live device monitoring and control.

The Mobile Guardian work covered K–12 device management across iOS, Android, macOS and Chromebook environments. WebSocket integration supported live device monitoring and classroom control, while the Chrome extension connected teachers to online activity and classroom interactions. This product was also part of our work with JSGuru.

Outcome

Modernized application interfaces with real-time device controls and browser integration.

Client project

This outcome summarizes the engineering work. No numerical improvement or independent performance measurement is claimed.

Our contribution

Angular migration, real-time controls and a browser extension

The engineering work combined AngularJS-to-Angular migration, WebSockets and Chrome extension development. We contributed to frontend maintainability and real-time interaction across the device-management product.
